We take pride in our ability to provide education, training, and/or consulting referable to ICD-10-CM/PCS-based clinical documentation and coding integrity (CDI) or hospital and/or provider medical necessity subject matter expertise. We focus on a targeted CDI education program by providing Physician, Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDS), and Coding Education and Engagement as well as Physician Advisor Training.
Staying up to date is integral for our CDI Specialists and Educators. CDI Answers utilizes physician subject matter experts and our remote team to ensure the quality and integrity of our educational programs.
Depending on the needs of your facility, we provide solutions and answers that meet the specific needs of your CDI Program.
CDI Answers will provide Ongoing mentoring and support for the entire process. Both onsite and virtually.

Maintaining a program that is current in the ever changing world of CDI requires staying current from the top down. One on one conversations ensure all questions are answered and understood.
James S. Kennedy, MD, CCS, CDIP, CCDS is the founder and President of CDIMD, a Nashville-based physician and facility advisory and consulting firm that advocates ICD-10-pertinent clinical documentation and coding integrity essential to healthcare revenue cycles and quality measurement.
As a coding and clinical documentation integrity (CDI) expert with over 20 years of experience and as a frequent speaker to medical staff, Health Information Management (HIM) and CDI associations, Dr. Kennedy is nationally recognized for his subject matter expertise, communication skills, and problem-solving approach.
He has been designated as a Certified Coding Specialist and Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner by the American Health Information Management Association and as a Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist by ACDIS.
Dr. Kennedy is a native of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Memphis, where he trained and was board-certified in Internal Medicine.
He practiced as a general internist for fifteen years in Franklin, Tennessee as a solo practitioner, in private multispecialty groups and ultimately with Vanderbilt Health Services and also served as the chairman of the 911 board and as the medical examiner for Williamson county, Tennessee.
Dr. Hardik Shah is the former Director of Clinical Documentation Integrity & Optimization at Community Medical Centers.
He has more than 9 years of leadership experience in clinical medicine, clinical documentation integrity and data analytics in Public health. He received his medical degree from Windsor University in St. Kitts & Nevis. He also holds a Master's in Public Health in Health Services Policy and Administration from University of South Carolina.
In his former role as Director of Clinical Documentation Integrity & Clinical Optimization, he was responsible for directing cross-facility resources to facilitate planning, design, development, implementation, education, maintenance and evaluation of clinical processes, clinical documentation integrity and clinical information systems by constructing a structural bridge between academia and patient care services to maximize full human and technological potential for all clinical and non-clinical departments. His primary responsibilities included managing the continued development of the 1100 bed hospital wide clinical documentation integrity program and CDI nurse, physician and technological resources.
In addition, he collaborates, consults, and advises Hospital systems, revenue cycle management, leadership staff to architect best clinical documentation integrity practices and processes through strategic analysis and interpretation and redesign of workflows in order to reduce variation in clinical documentation in an effort to optimize and maximize clinical outcomes.
Dr. Shah is currently our Senior Physician Consultant is responsible for delivering CDI Education to clients regarding appropriate diagnoses for capturing accurate Severity of illness, Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC’s) and Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MS DRG’s) - He reviews and analyzes health records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for distinct patient encounters. He works closely with medical and HIM staff and has an approach that immediately promotes collaboration.
